• Permission
  Asking permission to walk thru the Ciudad Sagrada is an act deeply rooted in the tradition. It can only be given by the owner of the territory; it’s a privilege to ask for it; it’s a compromise to get it. That way El Tajin governs with the consent of the spirits.
• Plaza del Arroyo
  This esplanade is the door to the greatness of an ancient civilization. In the past, in the dark of the forest, the hunters made offerings to the powerful gods. Today, the dancers offer their ritual dances. Something happens in the Plaza del Arroyo at dusk… he whom stops, knows and can feel it.
• Strength
  On the old buildings the force is accumulated; the skies manifest this force by thunders and lightnings. Ancient mysteries are decrypted during the night path thru El Tajin. The destinies chance is reveled. Dreams become clear.
• Juego de Pelota
  Two teams and a rubber ball: sport created by the gods for men to imitate the divine. A ritual and athletic choreography, in the Juego de Pelota continuity is given to the existence and transit of the stars.
• Magnificent Encounters
  Each sound is a possibility; each angle a destiny and each step a vote to chance. We are here to join: to make the dance, the light and the singing our own language. The meeting is the luck of the walker.
• Plaza del Edificio 5
  Home of the Dios del Trueno, standard of governors and associated with the planet Venus, war and ritual sacrifice. Sculpted over a volcanic rock column, the Dios del Trueno its partially stark, an skeleton that goes down to the victim at the moment of sacrifice.

  Legends had been written about the bird men. One talks about a group of flying men that got lost in the sky when the square and the ropes got separated from the pole. In front of the people amusement, the Flying men appeared in the horizon, but the pole had already been laid and they had no way to go down. So they disappeared between the clouds, to appear never again. The town people had lost the opportunity to know the plan of the solar divinity.
• Totonaca Tradition

TajÍn Vive

A night tour that wanders through the mysteries, colors, sounds and rituals of the Sacred City of El Tajín. There are sounds and surprises, chants and warmth, music and hums. Each night of the Festival, marking the start of the Tajín Vive tour, Totonacan birds renew the atavistic pact with the cosmos at the entrance to the archaeological site of El Tajín. To be able to witness this ritual in moonlight is- in a metaphorical way -like standing before the threshold of their culture. To know the Sacred City during the night tour is, literally, like traveling through it. Tajín, city of science, art and culture, demonstrates its greatness with the dances of the Quetzales, the Guaguas and the Negritos, among other expressions that you can admire during the tour.
