- Permission
Asking permission to walk thru the Ciudad Sagrada is an act deeply rooted in the tradition. It can only be given by the owner of the territory; it’s a privilege to ask for it; it’s a compromise to get it. That way El Tajin governs with the consent of the spirits.
- Plaza del Arroyo
This esplanade is the door to the greatness of an ancient civilization. In the past, in the dark of the forest, the hunters made offerings to the powerful gods. Today, the dancers offer their ritual dances. Something happens in the Plaza del Arroyo at dusk… he whom stops, knows and can feel it.

So they disappeared between the clouds, to appear never again. The town people had lost the opportunity to know the plan of the solar divinity.

Each night of the Festival, marking the start of the Tajín Vive tour, Totonacan birds renew the atavistic pact with the cosmos at the entrance to the archaeological site of El Tajín. To be able to witness this ritual in moonlight is- in a metaphorical way -like standing before the threshold of their culture. To know the Sacred City during the night tour is, literally, like traveling through it. Tajín, city of science, art and culture, demonstrates its greatness with the dances of the Quetzales, the Guaguas and the Negritos, among other expressions that you can admire during the tour.
